Outside

Fort Simserhof stretches out several kilometers below the surface, but above ground there is little to see: Only the two entrances and the occasional gun turret. The bigger turrets are lowered down when not used and are therefore almost invisible, the smaller ones are barely higher than grass level.

Living in the Bunker

The crew spent all their time in the dark, cold and wet bunker. Only at night some would go out to check the surroundings for enemy activity as the bunker periscopes were useless in the dark.
